KIA Source: http://forum.armyairforces.com/ac-4232035-m161833.aspx SGT Dooley was serving as the Aerial Photographer for his B-17 aircraft (#42-32035) when it was downed (targeted or mechanical unclear). He did not survive the crash and is listed as KIA. The mission was one of many to destroy a Romanian refinery in Ploesti which was a source of oil for the Germans. Other crew members died and some survived becoming POWs.
