Lawrence A Perry was a Home town boy that was in the ROTC in 1939, while attending (and graduating) from Rodgers High-School. (Rhode Island). He enlisted 28 Jan 1942 from Bangor, Maine and was selected to enter into the Air Corps.

Lt Lawrence A Perry was a Navigator in the B-25, He earned the DFC for the skillful navigation that led the Ship Capt to make a totally effective patter of destruction before the ship was hit by FLAK on the turn away from the Target.

Lt Lawrence Perry also earned the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaves, 2 Dist. Unit Citations for the 321stBG, and the ETO Ribbon, however he spent 17 Months in a German POW Camp, from 7 Jan 1944 and being released 29 April, 1945. (Stalag Luft 3 Sagan-Silesia Bavaria (Moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser) 49-11 )

MISSING IN ACTION on 07 January 1944~POW~On Bombing Mission On Perugia Airdrome. The Plane Was Hit By Flak Over The Target. Reports of 5 Parachutes Were Seen. One Report Was Made That The Plane Made A Controlled Landing 10 Miles South of The Target, Another Stated That The Plane Nosed And Crashed. 2Lt. Matkins Was Killed, And the Other 6 Crew Members Were Captured By The Enemy And Held As Prisoners of War.

Lt Perry was able to Parachute safely from the crippled ship, just before the ship crashed and burned. The remaining men were captured and sent to a German Camp in Germany. Lt Matkins was KIA.
