Stories

During World War II, she served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Women's Army Corps. She was stationed in the European Theater at Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force Headquarters under General Eisenhower for the Battle of Normandy and was a typist during Operation Overlord.

 She was the first non-commisioned American WAC to enter Paris, France. While in Paris, she married Floyd Willis Newcomb, Sr. on February 24, 1945.
