Herman ELFERS, adoptive father of my mother, Marie Louise ELFERS-LEWIS. Herman was born in GERMANY.
1877-1960 | Germany & Manhatten, NY
Herman, my mother's adoptive father, was a partner of a law firm, Manhatten, NY. He adopted my mother who was born Annibrita d'WAINIO in NYC, Feb., 08, 1921. Her father a Franc or Frank d'WAINIO, was born in Finland 1888 and died in So., CA 1978. Frank had been married once before, my mother's mother in Finland had one daughter and was divorced at an early age. His first wife left him with their only child a daughter. Frank's 2nd wife my actual Grandmother was a BRITA,< maiden name<, I believe, she died in NYC, young and left Frank with 5 young children, and his
restaurant, in NYC, NY had failed. After frank's 2nd wife died, he put the three youngest children up for adoption. His wife died of infection. Of the three youngest that were put up for adoption, 2 were adopted, one a son by a family named MAXWELL, and my mother. The older daughter, remained in the adoption home, where my mother had, had some contact with her after 1960's and kept in some contact till either the late 80's or early 1990's, I'm not sure, but I believe the older sister died in her 80's, never married, had no childre.
