A Brief History

Robert Fitzhugh Talman, born 29 July 1843 Rochester, NY, died 15 July 1906, Washington, D.C.
Former resident of Detroit, member of the Detroit Yacht Club, Member of Fairbanks post G.A.R. in Detroit and Burnside post of Washington. DC.
At the outbreak of the Civil War, he entered Army as a 2nd Lt. and served throughout the war, at the close of which he was a captain and brevet major in 14th NY Heavy Artillery, He was wounded at the Battle of Cold Harbor on June 2 and 3, 1864. After the war, he settled in Detroit, Mich. where he married Miss Jessica Mack, daughter of Capt. Chas. A. Mack, of the US Revenue Cutter Service.
Buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Section 3, Grave 1563
