The children of Hazel (Jilda) Joe Babcock

Hazel (Jilda) Jo Wright was my grandmother.  Her birth name was Hazel Jo Babcock.  She married my grandfather, Samuel Richard Oliphant, December, 1938 and gave birth to my father, Gaylan David Oliphant,  October 16, 1940 in Blanchard, McClain County, Oklahoma.  After divorcing my grandfather she married Harold Gerome Attebery.  Harold adopted my father and changed his last name to Attebery.                                                                          I My father had one brother.  His name is Jimmy Joe Attebery, born April 26, 1947, in Marin County, California.                                                                                                                           After she divorced Harold Attebery she married a man by the name of Buck Wright.               My grandfather, Samual Richard (Dick) Oliphant, was 1/8 Chickasaw from his mother's side of the family.  His mother's name was Nancy Jane (Jennie) Waite.  His father's name was Samual Rutherford Oliphant.  Jennie's mother was Catherine McClure. Jennies's father's name was Thomas Waite.  Catherine's mother was Ela Teecha Brown, a full blooded Chickasaw woman.  Catherin's father was Rev. James McClure.  After Rev. McClure passed away Ela Teecha married Smith Paul.  Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was named after him.  Jennie had a brother named Fred Waite.  He rode with Billy the Kid and fought with him in the gun battle they call the Lincoln County War.  Later, Fred became a Chickasaw Politician.  He was elected Governor to the Chickasaw Nation but passed away before he took office.
