OBITUARY OF ROSEWELL [sic] M. SIMMONS

Rosewell M. Simmons, 89, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at his home in Pine Plains. Mr. Simmons retired from IBM after 23 years; he previously was co-owner of the Stissing Oil Co. Mr. Simmons was an avid hunter and fisherman and greatly enjoyed a good golf game. As a devoted member of the Pine Plains United Methodist Church he served as trustee for many years.

Mr. Simmons served in the US Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 after serving the Asiatic Pacific theatre.

Born in Milan on Jan. 6, 1917, he was the son of Harrison Simmons and Della (Wright) Simmons.

Mr. Simmons is survived by (his living wife and many descendants, including "many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.").

He was predeceased by his first wife, Eunice Raycraft Simmons; two brothers Malcolm and Warren Simmons; a sister Mytle [sic] Simmons; and a stepson Thomas E. Wolven.

Funeral services are Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pine Plains United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bette Sotte and Rev. Alfred Liberatore officiating. Burial will be in the Stanford Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
