Viggo Skovgaard

Viggo Thorkild Skovgaard was born 29 February, 1896 (leap year!)  on Praestegaard, Knudsker, Ringbey nr. Ronne, on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.  His parents were Thorvald Christian Andreas Skovgaard and Thora Gudmandine Schou.  He was the youngest surviving son, tho' not the youngest child.  He had 8 siblings,  brothers Poul Andreas, Christian Gudmand, Otto & Carl, and sisters Anna Marie, Sophie Charlotte, Kamilla Dorthia, & Bodil Vilhelmine.  Otto & Carl died in childhood, Sophie died when she was 29.  Poul Andreas served in the Kingsguard, married twice..had 10 children in total, 8 by the first marriage & 2 by the second marriage.   Christian was a furniture maker, married Nelin Christianson and had two children (one son & one daughter)  Christian died in Aarhus, Denmark.   Anna Marie married Christian Laurentious Koefoed and had 5 girls. She died on Bornholm.  Kamilla Dorthia married twice and had 7 daughters, and Bodil became a cook and never married.  She died in 1993 in Copenhagen.  Thorvald & Thora are buried in St. Nicolai Churchyard at Ronne harbor in 1944 & 1926 respectively.  After the death of his first wife, Thorvald married 2 more times but had no children with either wife.  Viggo is buried in  Colma Cemetary, Daly City, San Francisco.  Viggo married Laura Marie Blanchflower and they had two children, a daughter and a son, both still living.  The daughter had 4 daughters, the son had 1 son & 2 biological daughters and 1 adopted daughter by his first marriage.  Laura is buried in Sacramento, California. She and Viggo separated circa 1944-45 on a separate maintenance agreement. There was never a divorce.
