Marcia Virginia Vickery was born in Jamestown, Colorado May 24, 1925. She was born at home and was the second child of Howard Vickery and Elsie Margaret Marx Vickery. She grew up with her brother, Howard E. Vickery who was three years older than she was. They were very close and often went with their father who was a gold miner to the mines.

When they were of school age they moved to Boulder, Colorado and lived on 8th street. Twin brothers John Donald and James Douglas joined the family in 1933. Marcia graduated in 1943 from Boulder High School and attended the University of Colorado where she planned on becoming a nurse. She also was a model for the Vim McCoy Agency.

During World War II she worked at Remington Arms making bullets. In 1944 she met and married Ervin O. Kramer and moved with him to California. They had a daughter, Kathy Lynn. Unfortunately they divorced four years later. Then in 1950 she married Wesley Harlan Hockett. They had a son, Richard Allan in 1951.

Marcia survived two cancer operations and was devoted to her family, encouraging her two children in their vocation of music. She was often in the audience when they played in their bands: Together and Pearl Street and as the duo Kathy and Rick. In 1983 she began writing with her daughter and published 40 historical romance novels under the pseudonymn Kathryn Hockett. Mother and daughter won several awards for their novels and were in fact writing a novel at the time of Marcia's death. Marcia died of a stroke while speaking at her mother's funeral. She is greatly missed but not forgotten.
