1889 - 1970 — Fort Scott, Kansas
Youngest child of Wilson and Lucinda Houseworth Warford. 10 children total. Born in Fort Scott, Kansas. Parents and older children migrated from Pennsylvania in a covered wagon to be pioneer settlers in Kansas. Married Luttie Mae Allen and had two children...Mary Alfreda and Robert Noel. A hard working man, my grandfather worked many jobs, including taking care of Teddy the horse at Fort Scott's National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was so pleased to get on at the post office as a Civil Servant later in life. Grandfather served in WWI in France as a messman or cook in the American Military Hospital. He left at home his elderly mother Lucinda on "the York", their farm on York Road....now renamed Indian Road. He was a hardworking proud man. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He named every cat Felix or Katpoodle. He tremendously enjoyed his grandchildren, Carol Kendig, daughter of Mary with husband Walter Kendig, and Mike, Jane, and Jill Warford children of Robert Warford and Beth Robinson Warford. Submitted by granddaughter, Jane Warford.
