W. E. Lawrence Dead at 60

Waterford -- Walter Earl Lawrence, a druggist here for 35 years, and active in church, fraternal and veterans' affairs, died yesterday at his home.

Mr. Lawrence would have been 60 Wednesday. He was a native of Waterford and a graduate of its public schools and the Albany College of Pharmacy.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War 1, and became a charter member of Charles J. Brady Post, American Legion. He was a past commander of the post and a past treasurer of the Saratoga County American Legion.

Mr. Lawrence was active in Masonic affairs and was a trustee of the First Methodist Church of Waterford. During World War 2 he served as a draft board member and as a member of rationing boards.

Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Gould, and a son, Alan F. Lawrence.

The funeral will take place Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Burial will be private.
