I was only on the Lex for eleven days for transportation to Pearl where I was assigned to the USS Allen DD66 and spent about two and a half years on it. I was an apprentice seaman, the lowest rate in the Navy

In your email they decided to sink the California. It never happened. The Calif., was tied up in mid stream and took hits and was listing badly. She was towed over to 10-10 dock and I was part of the crew cleaning up on the afternoon of the 7th. I spent the night of the seventh in the casement under one of its sixteen inch guns. If you are interested in Pearl Harbor just punch in Pearl Harbor and it will take you to a site all about Pearl.
