My grandfather did not like guns nor could he use them.

He wanted to go the War and help so he enlisted in the Ambulance Corp., where he could serve and help his country. He saw some of the worst of the worst. See his War record Battles under pictures of this memorial.

I inherited his foreign coins, uniform, first knap sack, and many pictures.

Of all my relatives he was my favorite. He taught me how to fish, laugh and enjoy each day as if it were my last. He loved to dance, travel, fish, and being with his friends - which he had acquired every since he was a young man in Daykin, NE. When he died his funeral was largely attended the church was full and many people stood outside on the steps of the church to hear the last tribute to a man that was known as, "A Man of Love."

He died at Whitman AFB located near Knobnoster, Johnson Co., MO.

He married Mildred Elizabeth McKee and to this union three daughters were born/
