THE INDIAN CABLE SPLICER’S LAMENT

Written by Floyd Campbell, CMSgt, USAF (early 1960’s for William Rider)

Shoot’em all, Shoot’em all-

The ground, the short, and the open

Out he will straggle regardless of time

Picking his guitar and singing in rhyme

While he songfully harks to the call of Rank

More than unhappy on that you can bank

Moaning and groaning, he’ll fret and he’ll sweat

But he’ll find the trouble on that you can bet

As the screams shout- Shoot’em all

Shoot’em all, Shoot’em all-

He’ll drink the beer and burn the pair

In weather that is stormy or fair

As he follows the woodpecker all alone

How he’ll holler and scream, oh he’ll moan

Tyndall Park on his mind, this you can bet

But he’ll never forget

The order that said “Shoot’em all”

Shoot’em all, Shoot’em all-

The lieutenants, the sergeants and all

Down on the flight line, up to his neck in mud

Looks up at the Sergeant and says “please pass the Bud”

Back to Tyndall Park for more antifreeze

The tour on this base was just a breeze

He is off to Alaska to be with the moose

And dream of the future to the call of the goose…

Indian Cable Splicers Never Fade,

They just Shoot’em
