Wesley enlisted in the confederate army at Rogersville Junction, TN on 3/18/1862. Was given a list of hospitalized prisoners' who were captured July 4, 1863. He was released because of bad health on July 15, 1863 and returned home to Lee Co., VA. He had been captured at Vicksburg.
About 1871, Wesley and his family started to TX in a covered wagon. The trip required so much time and expense that they stopped in Arkansas for a year to raise crops for food. They arrived in Fannin Co., TX in 1872. Wesley was partially deaf, due to quine treatments for malaria.
