Stories

James D. Hicks joined Company K of the 29th Enrolled Missouri Militia Infantry at Benton Barracks near St. Louis. The Regiment saw duty at Lancaster, Missouri and fought skirmishes in Boone and Scotland counties in September, 1862 and Uniontown in October. They fought all over the deep south finally winding up in Louisville, Kentucky in June, 1865. They entire regiment was mustered out  on Jun 12, 1865.
