Y., 1848?49; in conducting Recruits to 1st Infantry, 1849 in garrison at Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., 1849?50, — and Ft. McHenry, Md., 1850?51; on Mexican Boundary Commission, Apr. 10, 1851, to June 15, 1852; in Florida Hostilities against the Seminole Indians, 1853; on Recruiting service, 1853?54; in garrison at Ft. Monroe, Va., 1854?56; in Florida Hostilities against the Seminole Indians, 1856?57; and as Quartermaster, 1st Artillery, June 18, 1856, to June 5, 1860, atFt. Moultrie, S. C., 1857?60, — and Baltimore, Md., 1860?61.

Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861: on Special duty in the Department of Washington, May 4?30, 1861; and as Chief Quartermaster of the Department of Northeast Virginia, May 31 to July 23, 1861, at Washington, D. C., — and in the Manassas Campaign, being engaged in the Battle of Bull Run, July 21, 1861, where he was Mortally Wounded, and died of wounds July 23, 1861
