Franklin Brown - Private CSA

Lenoir County, NC

Franklin Brown was my great grandfather. He was enlisted in the 13th Battalion Co. B(State Troops) of the Confederacy in January of 1862. In October of 1864 he was marked as absent on his muster roll card with remarks that he had been sent to Winder Hospital in Richmond. The following muster card showed that he was discharged from Winder in mid December. In March of 1865 he was taken prisoner of war. He went on to father numerous children - one of which was my grandfather, Richard Vance Brown who himself bore no less than 12 children spanning 3 wives. His last child is my father, Edward Vance Brown.
