Dodge was one of the best leaders in the Black Hawk War. He formed a volunteer militia in the Michigan territoty and led his men to what was the first victories in the war (Battle of Horseshoe Bend). Dodge continued to see success until the end of the war. 

Short Bio

Henry Dodge served in the Missouri militia during the War of 1812 but became famous for his leadership during the Black Hawk War. After the war, he entered politics, serving as the territorial governor of Wisconsin and later as a senator from Wisconsin. He declined to run for president in 1844, instead supporting Martin Van Buren.
