1861 December: William Joins 98th New York Infantry Rank Private. Dies July 1862 on Hospital Ship from wounds. Buried in Delaware City, DE.

1862 July: Joins 106th New York Infantry. Serves in combat until war ends. Mustered out in Washington, DC June 1865. Never changes rank…starts and finishes as private. Entered war as Drummer boy.

Joins US Army July 1865 to fight Indians. Assigned to 10th US Infantry Fort Snelling, MN Company G Fort Ripley, MN, Fort Wadsworth, DT

June 18th 1868 Reenlists in 10th Infantry assigned to Company E Fort Wadsworth, DT

May 30 1869 10th Infantry assigned to Fort Snelling readies for transfer to Texas posts.

June 11, 1869 given leave to Saint Cloud

June 13 1869 murdered

June 18, 1869 Body found by Mississippi River
