Service Record Of Sgt. Rowe is told in Dispatch

With the 2d Endineer Special Brigade on Leyte, P. I. Sgt. Paul R. Rowe of Grandview, Ia., son of Ed Rowe of the place, who is returning home on a 45-day furlough after 27 months in the Southwest Pacific has an impressive service record. He has seen action in British and Dutch New Guinea and the Philippines with a medical company. His unit has made three amphibious landings in the Philippines, caring for the first casualties and later clearing patients for evacuation by plane and boat. The Company is part of the 2d Engineer Special Brigade, and amphibian force specializing in landing troops on hostile shores, it then unloads supplies, builds roads and bridges. Sgt. Rowe has received four overseas bars, the Meritorious Service Unit Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal (two bronze stars), and the Philippine Liberation Medal(one bronze star). On his last landing, he received a personal commendation from the commander of the attached regiment. He holds the Tobruk "T" insignia for action at Lae, New Guinea with the Australian Division, the "Rats of Tobruk".
