ULSTER COUNTY SOLDIER ANOTHER CASUALTY OF WAR

Mr. and Mrs. John Salmi of Rifton, Ulster county, have been notified that their son, John Henry Salmi, 28, technician third grade, was killed in action when an army transport crashed in Scotland, July 27. A news release regarding the crash given at the time of the accident said the plane had hit a cliff near Mull of Galloway in southern Scotland. Technician Salmi served in the army 1 1/2 years and had been attached to the army medical evacuation transport squadron. He went to England in January. Although his parents are in Rifton, he went to California in 1937, married at Glendale in 1942, and made his home there. A daughter, Nancy Esther, whom he never saw, was born in March.
