T/SGT FRED VAN SCOYK

Funeral Services for Technical Sgt. Fred. W. (Bus) Van Scoyk, World War II victim killed on Mindanao island May 5, 1945, will be held at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Thornhill-Dillon chapel at Joplin, Mo. Engaged in 10 beachhead landings in the South Pacific, T/Sgt. Van Scoyk's service record included Pearl Harbor, Australia, Hollandia, Dinagat, Panaon, Leyte, Mindoro, Luzon, Lubang and Mindanao islands. He was attached to the famed Twenty-first (Gimlets) infantry regiment of the 24th division. He is survived by three brothers, J. R. Van Scoyk, 202 J street northwest, Miami; John Van Scoyk and Joe Van Scoyk, both of Joplin, and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Richardson of Joplin. Reburial will be in Joplin's Forest Park cemetery.
