Stories

SSgt Kumpost was likely killed in action against the German Seventh Army during the Battle of Mortain (aka Closing the Falaise–Argentan Pocket), just days after his regimental commander, Col. William W. Cornog was killed in action.  He was part of the "Blitz Doughs" attached to the 3rd Armoured division. He was killed in Lignieres-Orgeres, France.

SSgt Kumpost was assigned to Company C, 36rd Armoured Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armoured Division during WWII.
