Alfred Derote Ruyle

Birth: 1805 Sumner County Tennessee, USA

Death: Feb. 24, 1885 Greene County Illinois, USA

Alfred, son of John L. Ruyle,I & Polly Bird, married Sarah Ann Blackstone, Parents unknown, 23 Jan 1826, Sumner Co.,TN. To this union were born: A.D.,Mary Ann,Joseph Oscar,James M.,John T.,Alfred Derote,Jeremiah Edward,William H.,Eliza Jane,Thomas B.,Robert N.

Alfred came to Illinois in about 1830, and to Calhoun Co. in 1850. He was a veteran of the Black Hawk War in 1832.

Alfred was also a veteran of the Civil War. Seven of his sons also served during the Civil Civil War, Company C, 10th Missouri Infantry.

When he moved to Calhoun Co., he located at the Bay and later moved to Greene Co. Alfred was a wagon maker and conducted a blacksmith shop in Roodhouse for a number of years.

Alfred with 7 of his sons joined the Union army (A.D.died 1832) The youngest Robert N. was a drummer.
