 Jesse Siler Rice was born on April 1, 1837, in Yancey, North Carolina, his father, William, was 27 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 29. He married Margaret L. McIntosh and they had 13 children together. He also had two children with  my great grandmother Bridgett Emeline "Biddy ". Garland. He died on November 8, 1923, in Flag Pond, Tennessee, at the age of 86.
