"THE SEVENTH GENERATION" Page 160, Individual #2757: * Child VI: WILLIAM HENRY (WHEELER) born 1844, Feb'y 10, Warren, N.Y., died 1864 Oct. 6 Was in the Ninety-sixth Regiment Illinois Volunteers, was wounded in the battle of Chickamauga, Sept. 20, and died Oct 6, 1864. *Child of Diantha Hayden and William Wheeler"

From "War and History" Page 481 "Wheeler, Wm. H., enlisted Aug. 15, 1863, missing in action at Chickamauga, Sept. 20, 1863, supposed killed".

William Henry was wounded on the very first day at the Battle of Chickamauga, one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. He died 6 October 1864 because of those wounds.
