By Ronald J. Anderson Mike Parish and I were memebers of Platoon 1068 MCRD San Diego in 1966. Marine recruit training of that era did not allow much time to socialize so recruits did not learn much about each other (the term "military aquaintance" was used as a substitute for "friend"). I can remember Parish (a man of color) responding to a squad leader who insisted on calling his fellow recruits "Krauts" by saying, "Do I look like a Kraut to you?" It was a relief to find that at least one of the members of 1068 had not lost his sense of humor!By Richard Squier I remember Mike from high school. He was a year behind me and he was involved in the student government. He was a very bright kid with a lot of potential. I was surprised when he chose the military over college since he was an honor student. I survived VN, but Mike did not. He would have been a fine man. Be at rest Mike.
