Thomas Gribble (1776 - 1849) of Warren County, Tennessee

THOMAS GRIBBLE appears on the Muster Roll of Burkes County - Third Regiment of the North Carolina Militia, most probalby served under the 7th Regiment (Pearson's Regiment). JOHN GRIBBLE and THOMAS MONTEATH also appear on the Muster Roll.

THOMAS CARMACK GRIBBLE, son of THOMAS GRIBBLE and SARAH IRWIN, was born February 1776 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and died August 03 (or 12) 1849 in Warren County, Tennessee. He married HANNAH SHANKS February 04, 1801 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, daughter of JAMES SHANKS and FINWELL. She was born Abt. 1778 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and died August 03, 1868 in Warren County, Tennessee.

Thomas Carmack was of Scotch-Irish descent, and came to Warren County about 1814. He was an elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over forty years, and was a member of the Democratic party.
