Lero H. Stone, 80, of Jonesboro died Monday, Oct. 1, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro. Born at Walnut Ridge, he had lived in Jonesboro for the past 55 years. He was a retired salesman, a World War II veteran of the Army and a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lee Stone of the home; four sons, James L. Stone of Collierville, Tenn., Ricky Stone of Bartlett, Tenn., Scotty D.Stone and Carey D. Stone, both of Jonesboro; one brother, William E. Stone of Brentwood, Calif.; two sisters, Shelby Jean Hazzard of Newark, Calif. and Zelma Lou Soper of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Ernest Stone, two sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Walcott.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Stone, Tim Stone, David Stone, John Miller, Wesley Carson and Bryan Couch.
Honorary pallbearers will include Floyd Bonham, Ray McClintock, R.B. McClung, Mavrick Cook, Ben Owens Jr., and the men of the Adult 6 Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
