Mahlon G. Horner Discharge Certificate

07/21/1862 - Mustered in to Company I, 11th Regiment, Infantry - NJ Volunteers, Union Army, under Captain Sleeper, Enlisted by Captain John Hill.

Encampment: Camp Perrine, Trenton, NJ

5/3/1863 - Received gun shot wound to foot during Civil War Battle at Chancellorsville, near Fredericksburg, Virginia.

12/16/1863 - Discharged at Ward U.S. Army General Hospital, Newark, NJ, as disabled.

 

Complete 25-page military file received from National Archives of Washington DC containing muster rolls, casualty reports, and discharge certificate, attached. Recently visited his grave with flowers comemmorating anniversary of his mustering in on July 21st. - Cathy Ivins
