Frank received a Bronze Star for his heroic efforts in the Vietnam War.

"For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam on 1 March 1967. On this date, Staff Sergeant Robinson was serving as Platoon Sergeant for the Reconnaissance Platoon of the 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry, when it made contact with an estimated North Vietnamese Company. At the initial contact, Staff Sergeant Robinson, realizing the difficulty of control, and the advantage which the enemy had by occupying the high ground to the Platoon’s front, moved forward from a covered position under intense enemy fire to a location where he could help the Platoon Leader maintain control. After moving three squads on line and establishing flank security, Staff Sergeant Robinson moved to within twenty-five meters of the enemy, with complete disregard for his personal safety, in order to aid in calling-in awaiting gunships which were hovering above. During the ensuing fire-fight, Staff Sergeant Robinson exposed himself repeatedly to the intense hostile automatic weapons fire. By moving forward under fire, Staff Sergeant Robinson was able to mark his front line, enabling the gunships to fire within twenty-five meters of the friendly troops and silence the machine gun that had the platoon pinned down. Staff Sergeant Robinson observed three North Vietnamese soldiers trying to flank the Platoon. Again with complete disregard for his personal safety, he maneuvered to the left flank and directed an assault against the oncoming enemy. Staff Sergeant Robinson’s outstanding display of aggressiveness, devotion to duty and personal bravery is in keeping with the highest tradition of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army."
