**Hoye Hegwood, restaurant owner, patriot, believer in family values

The funeral for Hoye M. Hegwood of Snellville, owner of several restaurants in Louisiana and Mississippi, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Reimann Funeral Home in Gulfport, Miss., with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Gulfport. Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville Chapel, is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Hegwood, 89, died Tuesday. ``He did everything at his restaurants," said his daughter Carolyn Stewart of Snellville. She said that, most of all, Mr. Hegwood was "a gentleman and a patriot."

"He had these little cards made up that said, `Wake Up America,' " Mrs. Stewart said. "He believed in family values and the return to it being a more godly country. . . . Those were just some of the things he truly believed in."

Surviving in addition to his daughter are eight other children, LaFern Baker of Gulfport, Linda Guffey of Bossier City, La., Janette Godfrey of Lancaster, Pa., Barbara Hegwood of Atlanta, Calvin Hegwood of Union, Miss., Melvin Hegwood of Comer, Shirley Hegwood of Bogart and Elaine McGowan of Arlington, Texas; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
