Eli was born to Benjamin Brown and Elizabeth Spears. He wed Mary Ann[Langley] Benson on October 3, 1864, in Fulton County, Illinois. They had:
1) Henry Morgan on Jan 22, 1866

They moved to Sullivan County, Missouri and had:
2) William Franklin in Jan 1868
3) Albert Terry on Jan 19, 1870
4) Virginia Mae on Nov 17, 1871

They returned to Bryant, Illinois, where Eli died on May 25, 1874. Eli's wife Mary then wed Thomas Day on June 10, 1877
