Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class Rensink was a crew member of a P2V-5 Neptune patrol bomber with Patrol Squadron 2, U.S. Navy. While on a night reconnaissance mission of North Korea and China coasts on January 4, 1954, contact was lost and he was declared Missing in Action. Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class Rensink was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
