Private First Class Poore was a member of the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on May 24, 1951. Private First Class Poore was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Elvis J Poore

Elvis J. Poore was born 19 Jul 1928 in Winston County, Alabama to John Newton Poore and Cordelia McCormack. Elvis married Victoria Sutherland in Clay County, Arkansas on the 5th of Nov 1949. He enlisted with the 9th Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division on 19th  Sept 1950, Service # US53007375, Heavy Weapons Infantryman. Private 1st Class Poore was Killed in Action on 24 May 1951 in South Korea. He remains were brought home and buried at Mountain Home Cemetery in the Lumball Community near Bear Creek in Marion County, Alabama.
