Corporal Hoskins was a member of Company D, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 4, 1951. Corporal Hoskins was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Billy was born on 4 April 1929 in Matewan, WV. He was my Dad's 1st cousin. He initially lied about his age in 1945 in order to join the Army so he could get into WWII before it ended. He was recalled when the Korean war started, and fought with his unit for 14 months until he was KIA on 10/04/1951.
