Summary

Lt. William J. McGowan was a P-47 pilot in the 366th Fighter Group, 391st Fighter Squadron during World War II. The P-47 he was flying was shot down on D-Day, June 6, 1944 while on a low-level mission near St. Lo in Normandy and did not survive the crash.
