Youngest surviving son of Jeremiah J. Chamberlain (1825-1901) and Elizabeth C. Carrigan (1836-1916), of Corryton, Knox Co., TN. In 1901, Wm. Tate Chamberlain married Elizabeth Owens in Knox Co. In the Knoxville city directories of the period, he is listed as working as a barkeeper in the drinking establishment of sister Texanna Chamberlain and her husband, Daniel J. Kavanaugh on Central Ave. Wm. and Elizabeth had 7 known children: Henry Scott; Mary Frances.; unnamed infant; Wm. Jeremiah; Eugene Owen; Elizabeth C.; and Lloyd H. The family moved to Clovis, NM, some time before 1910. They can be seen living in Fallon, Churchill Co., NV, however, in the 1920 census. It appears that Wm. and Elizabeth were divorced between 1920 and 1926, for she married Wm. Walter Webb, a transplanted Texan residing in Fallon, in early April of the latter year. Wm. T. Chamberlain appears on the 1930 census for Brawley, Imperial Co., CA, in 1930, living with his youngest son, Lloyd. He died in 1934 in a San Francisco, CA, hospital where he was taken after an injury sustained while he was working at a Civilian Conservation Corps camp near Hawthorne, NV. According to one newspaper item published before his funeral, he was to be interred in Mountain View Cemetery. But no record of this burial seems to be currently available.
