Son of Richard Chamberlain (1723-1789) and Mary Stout (1730-1790), who moved from Hunterdon Co., NJ, to Washington Co., PA. Said to have married a woman called Diana (maiden name unknown) around 1777. With her, he had thirteen children. Stout Chamberlain was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, for which he received a pension starting in 1833. Brother of Freegift Chamberlain, who also fought in the Revolution and was likewise pensioned for his service. At the beginning of the war, Stout lived in Washington Co., PA, where he enlisted in the militia. Around 1817 he moved across the state line to Columbiana Co., OH, where he wound up spending the rest of his life. In 1835, Stout married Ellen Norfolk in Columbiana Co. Based on probate documents, it can be said with a reasonable degree of confidence that he died in the first few months of 1839. Children: Nancy; Harmon; George; Wm.; Jane; John; Isaac; Diana; David; Benjamin; Elija[h]; James; and Sarah.
