Second son of Lawson Watkins Chamberlain (1860-1947) and Susan Olive Frey (1860-1953). Never married. Served in the U.S. Navy in WW I. Trained to be a Methodist minister. Uncle Alvin was an active member of the American Legion. He was also the Chamberlain family writer and family historian and was fond of writing letters to the editor on political topics.
