Youngest son of Burkett Barton Chamberlain (1864-1942) and Mary Angeline (Mollie) Kincheloe (1872-1948), of Rochester, Haskell Co., TX. In 1927, he got his degree from West Texas State Teachers' College, at the same time as his father, then a seasoned teacher of some 25 years. James went on to become a civics and history instructor at Lee College, in Baytown, TX, where he and his wife settled. Eventually, he fell victim to polio. He died at the Hedgecroft Clinic, in Houston, at the age of 44.
