Civil War Military Service

Served in Civil War with Co. F 195th Ohio Volunteer Infantry; inscribed on tombstone. Microfilm: "Official Roster of the Soldiers of the Stat of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion, 1861-1866; Vols 9-10"; photocopid at Dallas Public Library at Dallas, TX on 31 Jul 1998 on file of KLL; NOTES: Jesse entere the service on 6 Feb 1865; This Regiment was organized at Camp Chase, OH, from 14-20 Mar 1865, to serve one year. The Regiment arrived at Harper's Ferry on the 25 Mar 1865, and after doing garrison duty there a few days, went into camp, near Winchester, VA, with the troops of General Hancock. While in this camp news of Lee's surrender was received, and the Regiment was ordered to Alexandria, VA where it performed provost- and guard-duty until 18 Dec 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
