George Wm Goodrow Jr.
United States Marine
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly after his graduation from high school. His enlistment was from his hometown of Schenectady, NY.
His service in the Marines was aboard the USS Ranger, an small escort aircraft carrier. He and the Ranger participated in the invasion of North Africa.
He was discharged from the Marines on 11 April, 1946 at Camp Lejuene, N.C. with the rank of Sergeant.
He married the former Doris Saunders, and together they had five children, and a long, wonderful life together.
I love him dearly and miss him more. He is my Dad. When he died, his ashes, and later the ashes of my mother were mixed, and spread over their beloved Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.
