Charles Wasilkowski, 78, of Walnutport, Pennsylvania passed away December 3, 2008 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Jean (Reinheimer) Wasilkowski. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on November 30. Born in Palmerton, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Ivan and Stella (Hubinsky) Wasilkowski. He retired as a gunnery sergeant E6 from the Marine Corps in 1968 after 20 years of service. His last two years of service he taught R.O.T.C. at Cornell University. During his 20 years of service, he was awarded a Bronze Star medal with combat V, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal with a Silver Star, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Europe Clasp, National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal with a Silver Star, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross Color with Palm and Frame) United National Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge and Pistol Expert Badge. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Charles retired from Lehigh Valley Dairy. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 16 and Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport. He was of the Greek Catholic faith.
Survivors: Wife; son, two grandsons, brother, George Wasilkowski; several nieces, nephews. Charles was predeceased by brothers, Michael, Metro, Steven, Peter, Anthony, Andrew, John and Paul.
