The daughter of Rev. Jeremiah Chamberlain and his first wife, Rebecca Blaine, of Claiborne Co., MS, Mary B. first married Samuel H. B. Black in 1846. Samuel died the following year, and she then married Anthony White Hutchins in 1850. With her first husband, Mary had a daughter, Mary Susan. Mary and Anthony were the parents of ten children: Jere Chamberlain; James Blaine; Samuel Newman; Joseph Bowmar; Linton Carson; Ellen Hyland (Dixie); Washington; Wm. Markham; Carradine Chase; and Anna Collet. The Hutchins family moved from MS to Lexington, MO, where they lived for many years before Mary and A. W. relocated to Ft. Worth, TX, to be near several of their children who lived there.
