JOHN CLEMONS, JR.3 (John 2 – Isaac l) was born at Danvers, Mass., 4 Jun 1763. He married Mary McLellan (b. 2 Jan 1766- d. 6 Apr 1832), the daughter of Cary McLellan and Eunice Elder of Gorham, Maine, Feb 1789. (Note: McLellan's History of Gorham says that Mary was b. 2 Aug 1767). For twenty-seven years they farmed their land on the eastern slope of Bill Merrill Mt. in Hiram. The family migrated to Sandusky, Ohio, in 1817. Mr. Clemons quarried stone at Kelley's Island before 1833 and moved to Ottawa County, Ohio, in 1832. Mary McLellan Clemons was buried in Marblehead, she died in Sandusky. John Clemons, Jr., died and was buried in Marblehead, Ohio. Date of death: 5 Mar 1845. The numerous descendants of John and Mary Clemons spread west- ward and southward. Their granddaughter Clarinda Clemons married George Wilshire. Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles Is reportedly named for their son Gaylord Wilshire. (Letter dated 16 Dec 1934 from Ida Clemons Tuma, Cleveland, Ohio, to Hazel Clemons Main, Cornish, Maine)
