Nova Lee Moore was the first soldier from Chariton killed in the World War. He enlisted Sept. 20, 1917, from Keytesville, Mo., and was sent to Camp Funston, Kansas, where he was assigned to the infantry and sailed for overseas, from Newport News, Va., April 2, 1918. He was in his fourth battle when he was killed.
