Blindness and Knitting

According to family lore--said to be based on information provided long ago by Eliza Brown Wallace--Hannah went totally blind several years before her death. Although she was unable to sign her name or even distinguish night from day, she could still do her knitting whenever she pleased. Her knitting booklet was reportedly handed down to her granddaughter, Sarah Saffell, the daughter of Capt. Wm. Wallace and Mary (Polly) Chamberlain.
