Youngest son of Jeremiah Chamberlain (1707-1776) and Margaret (Margery) Hamilton (1716-1795), of York Co., PA. In 5 Jul. 1784, he married Elizabeth Ewing in York Co. Ninian and Elizabeth had thirteen children: Margery; Samuel; Jeremiah; John; Rachel; James; Robert; Elizabeth (Betsey); Sally; David; Polly; Hamilton; and Margaret. He served as a private in Capt. Thos. Clingan's company of the York Co. militia during the Revolution. In 1807, the Chamberlans moved to Niles, Cayuga Co., NY, where they spent the rest of their lives.
